Largemouth Bass

One of North America's premier freshwater gamefish, largemouth bass are surprisingly adaptable to variable water conditions and foods, as well as being tolerant of low oxygen levels. An intelligent predator (well,for a fish), bass can be trained to eat pellet or live food from your hand when stocked alone. The underwater world of your pond will change once you introduce largemouth bass. All those
forage fish and defiant frogs that just swim around without a worry are in for a surprise. If you would like

We use a general stocking rate for Largemouth Bass that takes into consideration the available forage fish density. It's better to have a smaller population of healthy bass instead of a large group of fish that have eaten everything and are still undersized. A one acre pond should support 60-80 pounds of bass with a 10% mortality rate due to animal predation and fishing occurances. If the forage base is stable and growing you can always more bass.

• To grow a Largemouth Bass to one pound it takes about three pounds of forage fish or critters

Largemouth Bass Availability:
March, April, May, October, November and December.

Largemouth Bass is not available during September.
